The Therapy Canine Program is used to enhance community relations and assist the general public, first responders and the staff of the Secaucus Police Department cope with the exposure to traumatic events. Additionally, therapy canines will provide affection, comfort and support to those affected by trauma, mental health and crime. It is the policy of the Secaucus Police Department to use therapy canines for community outreach and engagement. The therapy canine will enhance and assist in the response and treatment of trauma and mental health by providing well- trained dogs as a medium. Therapy Canines will be used at public events, such as street fairs, concerts, parks and also during visits at our local senior citizen housing facilities and VA Clinic.
