Applicant’s wishing to apply for a Permit to Carry shall send an email to [email protected] requesting the date and time they want to come into Headquarters to drop off the application along with the required documents. Applicants will receive an email back from the Firearms Investigation Unit either confirming or denying the appointment date/time. The date/time to drop off the application and documents is Monday-Friday from 8AM-2PM. Appointments to drop off the Permit to Carry Application and Documents should be made only AFTER the applicant is Fingerprinted. The Secaucus Police will limit the number of application drop offs per day.
The fee for a Permit to carry a handgun is $200.00. You will have to provide with your application a Money Order in the amount of $50.00 payable to the New Jersey State Police. $150 will be paid to the Secaucus Police Department in exact cash, check or Money Order payable to the Secaucus Police Department.
The Following instructions are the same for the initial and renewal application. Please provide the following at time of Application:
** THE REQUIRED WRITTEN FIREARMS QUALIFICATION, IN ACCORDANCE WITH N.J.A.C. 13:54-2.4(B), CAN BE OBTAINED AT MOST FIREARM RANGES THROUGHOUT THE STATE. A LIST IS ALSO AVAILABLE HERE
** A NEW JERSEY PERMIT TO CARRY IS VALID FOR TWO (2) YEARS FROM TIME OF APPROVAL.
Please Note All the above needs to be submitted in person to the Secaucus Police Department. Incomplete applications will not be processed. If your application is denied by the Secaucus Police Department you will be notified in writing and will have thirty days to appeal the denial to the Superior Court of Hudson County.
