Conceal Carry Permit Application

Permit’s to Carry a Handgun

The Concealed Carry application is now digital. The Concealed Carry Permits service allows for online submission of both initial and renewal applications. Approved applications are due for renewal every two (2) years. Renewal applications can be submitted up to Four (4) months before the expiration date. Concealed Carry applicants need to have been fingerprinted for firearms purposes in New Jersey and assigned an SBI number before they can apply for a Concealed Carry Permit.

Please see the Civilian Carry Assessment and Range Evaluation Protocol (CCARE) memo for the updated rules pertaining to the safe handling and qualification of the firearm. This live-range training replaces the Permit to Carry Safe Handling and Proficiency Qualification protocol issued on July 21, 2023 and is the required range component pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2C:58-4(g). Please complete the following Certificate as per the updated qualification rules: NJ Permit to Carry Safe Handling & Proficiency in the Use of Handguns Certification.

If you have lived outside the state of New Jersey in the last ten (10) years, please fill out the Consent for Mental Health Records Form- sp-066.pdf (nj.gov) and upload it to your application.

To begin the application process, the web portal for the Permit to Carry application can be accessed by clicking on the following link: Concealed Carry Permits (njportal.com)

The fee for the Concealed Carry permit is $150.00 which will be paid to the Secaucus Police Department in exact cash, check or Money Order payable to the Secaucus Police Department. Once the application is submitted into the system, the Firearms Investigation Unit will contact the applicant to set a date/time for the applicant to respond to Secaucus Police Headquarters for the purpose of submitting the $150.00 owed to the Police Department and to answer several background questions. The background investigation will not begin until AFTER the applicant submits the $150.00 and answers the mandatory background questions.

Once your application is approved, you will be receiving an email from the Firearms Website which will contain your electronic Permit to Carry Card.

Incomplete applications will not be processed. If your application is denied by the Secaucus Police Department you will be notified in writing and will have thirty days to appeal the denial to the Superior Court oif Hudson County.
