The Junior Police Academy attempts to have students learn and experience what emergency services do while serving the community. On day one, students are taught drill and ceremony to be able to function as a single unit.  The Junior Police Academy incorporates hands-on blocks of instruction, including, but not limited to CPR, Boating Safety, SWAT Operations, Mechanical Force Options and Crime Scene Processing.  Students also were also introduced to our Therapy Dog Program  and participated in a practical demonstration of a bomb detection and narcotics detection K-9.  Other blocks of instruction included “Internet Safety” and Racially Influenced Policing.  The primary purpose of this  “police academy” is to allow Secaucus’ youth to engage our police officers in a non-enforcement setting and forge a positive relationship with one another.
