Police Chief Dennis Miller

Chief Dennis Miller graduated from Thomas Edison State University and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Administration of Justice.  He also graduated from the Certified Public Manager’s Course and the West Point Command and Leadership Academy. 

He served as a Combat Engineer and a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army.  He was appointed to the Secaucus Police Department in March of 1999.  Chief Miller was promoted to Sergeant in 2006, Lieutenant in 2013 and Captain in 2015.  He has served in the Patrol Division, Detective Division, Chief’s Office and as the Accreditation Manager.  He was assigned to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Municipal Task Force where he worked with all the municipalities within Hudson County and our Federal Law Enforcement counterparts. 

Chief Miller also served on Hudson County Rapid Deployment Force where he was part of the Presidential Protection Detail in Washington, DC in January 2005. Chief Miller earned the 200 Club Valor Award for his actions on December 31, 2004 when he was off-duty in Weehawken, NJ.  At that time Chief Miller came upon a man who murdered one woman and shot another and was attempting to execute her when Chief Miller intervened.  He pursued the armed felon and apprehended him and recovered the murder weapon. Read More

 His other awards include the Medal of Honor, an Exceptional Duty Award, 2 Excellent Police Service Awards, Drug Buster Award, 2 Officials Medals, 5 Unit Citations, an Outside Agency Award,  Recognition from the NYPD for his efforts during 9/11, 4 PBA Local 84 Awards, one specifically for resuscitating a woman who was not breathing, the New Jersey State PBA Valor Award and a Gallantry Star.
