Marine Operations Bureau

marine patch

Due to an increase of watercraft on the Hackensack River, the Secaucus Police Department created the Marine Operations Bureau in 2023, to provide law enforcement service for the Secaucus waterways and to ensure the boating public receives safe, efficient and professional service.  The 18 foot Boston Whaler was given to the Secaucus Police Department from the Palisades Interstate Police Department and restored to its current condition. The Marine Operations Bureau is commanded by Captain Scott Coar

Although the Marine Operations Bureau will not be on the water 24/7, members of the Marine Operations Bureau can launch the Secaucus Police Department vessel to respond to an emergency on a Secaucus waterway.  The Marine Operations Bureau has also joined the fire/police boat task force, overseen by the United States Coast Guard

Every member assigned to the Marine Operations Bureau, regardless of their duties, are required to attend and complete a basic boating course given by the United States Coast Guard.  Every member assigned to the Marine Operations Bureau, regardless of their duties, are required to attend and complete a course that meets the NASBLA Boat Program Standards.
