Two 14-year-old girls were charged with trying to break into a Secaucus home last month, Secaucus Police Capt. Dennis Miller said.

The arrests in the Aug. 28 incident were the result of a two-week investigation, Miller said. The two girls, one from Lyndhurst and the other from Secaucus, were arrested on Sept. 12 and released to their parents.

The girls were charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief, both fourth-degree offenses. Their names were withheld by police because they are minors.
