On Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 7:27 AM, a local taxi driver, picked up a “fare” in the area of Cedar Lane/Cedar Avenue in Secaucus.  The “fare” was wearing all black and had his face covered with a t-shirt when he entered the taxi.  While driving to the desired destination, the “fare,” later identified as a 17-year-old juvenile male, of Secaucus, demanded the driver give him all his money after he pulled out a folding knife in the course of committing the theft.

After not immediately complying, the 17-year-old juvenile male exited the taxi and fled on foot while still armed with the knife toward the center of Town.  The taxi driver then immediately notified the Secaucus Police.  In response to the report of the robbery, Detective Aniello Schaffer observed the 17-year-old juvenile male entering Buchmuller Park.  When the 17-year-old juvenile male observed Detective Scahffer he immediately began to flee on foot.  After a brief foot pursuit, the 17-year-old juvenile was taken into custody by Detective Schaffer and Police Officer Robert Napoleon after he initially resisted the detective’s commands.  At the time of his arrest, the 17-year-old juvenile male was found in possession of a folding knife.
