On Jul 22, 2017, Secaucus Police charged ten juveniles from France with burglarizing twelve (12) unlocked vehicles in a Secaucus residential area. On July 25, 2017, only three days later, twenty three (23) more unlocked vehicles were burglarized in the same residential area during the night time hours. Various amounts of US Currency, electronic components and credit cards were stolen.

Detectives processed each vehicle for evidence and conducted a canvass of the area. After an exhaustive investigation, a 17 year old juvenile was arrested on August 3, 2017 and a 16 year old juvenile was arrested on August 8, 2017. Both juveniles reside in Jersey City and were charged with committing the vehicle burglaries. At the time of arrest some of the property stolen was recovered.

Information was gathered throughout the investigation that also led to the arrest of Savione J. Bryant, 19, of Jersey City on August 9, 2017 since Savione J. Bryant “employed the juveniles to commit the crimes.”

Chief Flaherty reminds all residents to be sure to lock their vehicles to reduce the ability to commit this “crime of opportunity” and reminds residents not to keep valuables in their vehicle. Chief Flaherty also commends the intensive and diligent follow up investigative work the Secaucus Police Detective Division.

Savione J. Bryant and both juveniles were each charged with twenty three (23) counts of Burglary [2C:18-2a] and seven (7) counts of Theft [2C:20-3a]. All three were also charged with several counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary [2C:5-2/2C:18-2a] and Conspiracy to Commit Theft [2C:5-2/2C:20-3a] each. Savione J. Bryant was additionally charged with two counts of Using a Juvenile to Commit a Criminal Offense [2C:24-9].

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
