A Bergen County teenager was arrested and charged with criminal trespass Tuesday night after police say he broke into a local hotel undergoing renovations.

The 18-year-old Bogota resident was arrested after a security guard at the Empire Meadowlands Hotel reported to police that someone entered the building, Secaucus police Capt. Dennis Miller said.

Police responded to the Meadowlands Plaza complex around 9:45 p.m. and found that a parked car's alarm was going off. With the help of K9 units from the Hudson and Bergen county sheriff's offices, as well as the State Police, Secaucus police searched the building and eventually saw the 18-year-old man outside the hotel, running toward the parked car, Miller said.
