On January 16, 2017, at approximately 1228 hrs, members of the Secaucus Police Department responded to the Residence Inn, 800 Plaza Drive, Secaucus, NJ on a report of “found property.”  When the police officers arrived, hotel management stated that cleaning staff entered the room after the room registrants had checked out.  While performing the routine cleaning services, a large vacuum sealed bag containing approximately one pound of suspected marijuana was found in the room.

As a result, members of the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division conducted an extensive follow up investigation, including but not limited to; identifying and interviewing witnesses and alleged co-conspirators, reviewing surveillance footage et. al.  As a result of the follow up investigation, probable cause was developed to charge three (3) individuals with violating the narcotics laws of this state.

William Bonilla, 26, of Union City was arrested and charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana in a quantity of more than one ounce, but less than five pounds [2C:35-5b(11)] and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana [2C:5-2/2C:35-5b(11)].  He was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility on January 19, 2017, pending his first appearance in CJP Court.

Chief Kevin Flaherty states, “Individuals who think they can come to Secaucus solely to commit criminal acts without consequence are sadly mistaken. Whether it is in our residential or business areas or our abundant amount of hotels they will be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.”

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
