The Secaucus Police Department announces they have made an arrest in the hit and run motor vehicle crash that occurred on July 25, 2016 on Meadowlands Parkway, which seriously injured a pedestrian.  After canvassing surveillance cameras in the area, the Traffic Division was able to identify the subject vehicle and its point of origin, which was a local business within Secaucus.  Also, evidence suggests that vehicle was being operated recklessly at the time of the crash.  Additionally, information provided by a concerned citizen and witnesses led to the identification of the hit and run driver, who is employed by the local business the vehicle was seen exiting prior to the crash.  

On July 27, 2016, members of the Secaucus Police Department assisted by the Vernon Police Department located and seized the involved Honda Accord in Highland Lakes, NJ.  The vehicle displayed damage consistent with a vehicle being involved in a crash.  A short time thereafter Jesse A. Promnitz, 37 of Highland Lakes was arrested at his residence by Captain Carlos Goyenechea, Sergeant Martin Moreda, Detective Aniello Schaffer and Police Officer Kiril Petrov of the Secaucus Police Department, assisted by the Vernon Police Department.  

“This arrest was possible directly because of the diligent follow up and collaborative effort of all Divisions of the Secaucus Police Department.  I would also like to commend and thank the citizens and witnesses that came forward and assisted in this case,” Chief Flaherty said.  The Secaucus Police Department thanks the Vernon Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.


Jesse A. Promnitz has been charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident with Serious Injury (2C:12-1.1), Endangering an Injured Victim (2C:12-1.2a), Assault by Auto [2C:12-1c(1)], Tampering with Evidence [2C:28-6(1)] along with numerous motor vehicle violations.  Bail has been set at $15,000.00/10%.  Anyone with additional information on this motor vehicle crash can contact the Secaucus Police Department Traffic Division at (201) 809-4603 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
