Secaucus police shut down a marijuana-growing operation and seized numerous weapons, including an assault firearm, last weekend.

While conducting a search Saturday in Harmon Cove Towers, police located the "sophisticated marijuana growing operation," where more than 30 suspected marijuana plants were being grown hydroponically, Secaucus Police Chief Kevin Flaherty said in a press release Monday afternoon.

At the residence, police also seized a MAC 11 9 mm "assault firearm" and seven handguns, including one which had its serial number removed, Flaherty said.

The search led to the arrest of Secaucus residents Adrian C. Taylor II and Ravenojoy Leigertwood, both 36, on numerous drug and weapons offenses, including maintaining a drug production facility, possession with intent to distribute, possession of firearms while committing a drug offense, possession of an assault firearm and possession of a defaced firearm.
