On March 9, 2018, at 1:23 P.M., the Secaucus Police Department responded to

Secaucus High School on a report of a “threat” made by two students.  As a result of the “threat,” the school was placed on “lockdown.”  To ensure the safety of all of the students a large police presence could be seen in and around the school.

As a result of this police investigation, two 14 year old juveniles, both of Secaucus were arrested and each charged as juveniles with one count of Terroristic Threats [2C:12-3a].  Both juveniles have been immediately suspended from school.  Due to confidentiality in juvenile matters no further information can be released.

Although, there was no credible threat that a weapon was within the school, it was searched as a precaution and no weapon was found.  Chief Flaherty said “the Secaucus Police Department takes all threats seriously and although this lockdown may have caused some inconvenience, all appropriate police procedures were followed and there is no current threat.”

These charges are merely accusations and the juveniles are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
