On May 12, 2017 at approximately 2:53 P.M., Police Officer Joseph Fuardo was investigating a “suspicious vehicle” on the 700 block of 3rd Street, Secaucus, NJ. The vehicle was parked and unoccupied, but all its doors were left ajar. In plain view, the officer noticed a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle. The loaded handgun was recovered and later found to be reported stolen from North Carolina. A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded shotgun along with numerous rounds of handgun/shotgun ammunition and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, suspected alprazolam and suspected endocet. The owner of the vehicle, Gerard Grossi, 43 of Secaucus, was subsequently arrested.

Grossi’s girlfriend, Jessica Skinner, 27, of Secaucus, was also arrested after she was found to be concealing a loaded semi-automatic handgun in her waistband, which had is serial number obliterated. She was also found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, suspected alprazolam, and suspected suboxone.

Chief Kevin Flaherty commends the initiative and attention to detail of Police Officer Joseph Fuardo. “There is no doubt in my mind that Officer Fuardo’s diligence made Secaucus a little safer by getting these guns off the street.”

Gerard Grossi was charged with the following: [2C:35-10A(1)] Possession of CDS, [2C:36-2] Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, [2C:39-5B(1)] Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, [2C:39-5C(2)] Unlawful Possession of a Shotgun, two counts of [2C:39-4A(1)] Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, [2C:39-3D] Possession of a Defaced Firearm, and [2C:20-7A] Receiving Stolen Property. Jessica Skinner was charged with three counts of [2C:35-10A(1)] Possession of CDS, [2C:36-2] Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, [2C:39-3D] Possession of a Defaced Firearm, and [2C:28-6(1)] Tampering with Physical Evidence. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
