A Newark man was arrested Saturday after police say he tried stealing more than $1,000 worth of Legos from the local Toys R Us. 

Anibal Nieves, 36, was charged with theft for allegedly bypassing the checkout lines at the toy store with over $1,200 in Legos, police said. 

Nieves, who was arrested shortly after 5:20 p.m., also had an outstanding warrant from Bloomfield for $250. He was processed and taken to Hudson County jail in Kearny, cops said.
