The Junior Police Academy attempts to have students learn and experience what emergency services do while serving the community.On day one, students are taught drill and ceremony to be able to function as a single unit.
On day two, they attend training and demonstrations at the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy. They experience what a new police recruit is expected to learn while at the police academy. They are also brought onto the fire grounds where they extinguish a simulated fire and are taught how to exit a building during a fire.
On day three, students train with the United States Air Force security personnel at McGuire Air Force Base and receive demonstrations as well as hands on training on the life of an Airman.
On day four, students receive a K-9 demonstration, speak to helicopter pilots from the New Jersey State Police and train with the Secaucus Fire Department, Secaucus OEM, Meadowlands Hospital EMS personnel and Secaucus Police personnel.
There is a Drill and Ceremony competition at this time and in the evening the children graduate from the Junior Police Academy at Buchmuller Park.
